It's been kind of a busy week for me. I went to Hofstra's job fair a couple of days ago. Let me tell you, it was one of the most intimidating experiences i've ever had in my life. I walked into this big room and i saw all these suits and potential employers looking at me. I stepped off to the side and pretended to look through my folder of resumes but i was just stalling for time until i was able to regain my composure. Once i gained enough courage i walked up and down the aisles trying hard not to make contact with these people but just getting a guage of what companies were there. After scoping out the area i stopped by a few jobs but i dont think anything looked too promising. I didnt expect the job search to be easy so im not gonna let this discourage me at all. I have plenty of time to find the right job.
I also attended jury duty on monday. Man was that ever a giant waste of time. I've been to so many boring classes but imagine a long day of doing nothing but waiting for ur name to be callled, thats exactly what jury duty is. I got there at about 8 and after like a hour or so of waiting they show this gay ass video of how the justice system was back in the day and how much we have evolved. Then they showed us another video of how juries are selected and why its important to serve. Its all a bunch of garbage, they know it sucks to be there but they are trying to numb our brains with this idioisy. Anyway after all that drivel, some dude gets on a mic and called for all non- US citizens, ex cons and college students to go into a seperate room. I was like "sweet jesus, this is my ticket out of jury duty!" but they said they they could only delay it so i said nah with that..i'll take my chances.. so then i had to go back and wait. While waiting a judge gets on the mic and tries to be funny..but he wasnt. I hope to God that he's better at serving justice then uplifting the crowd because the place looked like the emergency room at a hospital once he left. Then they got some chick to talk about donating blood. When all that was over I waited for a few hours until 12:30 when i thought they were gonna release every1 for lunch but instead they let every1 go for the day and asked us to come back the next day. SO there i was the next day bored out of my mind until about 3 o clock when my name was finally called along with a host of others. We all found our seats when a woman came in and told us the good news. "we were no longer needed". I didnt even get called to a case which was sweet but a waste of time for sure. As of right now im done with jury duty for atleast 6 years.
I went to Chilis on thursday for a coworkers b-day. I have the rep at work as the anti-social kid who never makes an appeanace and its true. To be totally honest i usually hate work related events cause i cant help but feel left out and dont have muych in common with a lot of people. I decided to go to this one b/c bert was going and i had no other plans. I expected the worst but it was actually pretty fun. The food was good, a drink a little bit, and even the waitress was looked good. After chillis we went to a couple bars and just kicked back. All and all a pretty good nite. We were gonna go out another night to but plans got scratched so i just wound up chilling at home.
I have been driving with an outdated inspection sticker recently. i dont know how i forgot to get it inspected but im gonna just head down to my mechanic tomorrow and see if he can squeeze me in.
